5.2 Elemental Primer

In lieu of an actual guide update (because there’s still a lot of late tier stuff to work out) here’s a quick & nasty primer that will get you through the first few weeks.
Public Service Announcement
There have been a number of "when will X be available?" questions lately. My answer is "when it's ready". A lot of things require testing, examination and thought before actually publishing, and most of what remains is the hard part (stat weights, gear sets, trinket lists).
Single Target: Nothing. Nada. Zip. Everything is As Per 5.1.
AoE: CL at 6 or fewer targets. Add in Magma Totem & Earthquake above 6 (Magma can be “pre-cast” if you time it right)
All of Tier 4 is up in the air. Echo is still good, but with Elemental Mastery having a 90 second cooldown you can use it with every Ascendance, plus an extra use in between. Also, Ancestral Swiftness is useful if you choose Primal Elementalist, as it now comes with 10% melee haste in addition to 5% spell haste (and the elemental pets use Melee haste for their default attack).
Tier 6 is now a toss up between Elemental Blast & Primal Elementalist. The latter is better on movement fights, and can be worth taking if you use AS or EM (with the FE glyph, every 36 second FE gets 20 seconds of 30% haste).
- 13 March - Here's an update on what I'm working on at the moment, taking a leaf from Twintop's book. Still need to set up the Stat analysis stuff, which will then lead to gearset revamps & going through this process again.
- 14 March - Added stat weight graph. Bear in mind that this is with T15 4pc & the Sinister meta gem, so Echo & Mastery will be inflated a bit. I will be generating another set without those bonuses, then using this to generate T15N gearsets for further testing.
- 18 March - Added N4B (No 4pc + Burning) graphs.
Flame Shock is no longer required. Recommended glyphs are Chain Lighting, Unleashed Lightning and your choice (possibly Fire Elemental)
For the moment, Hit > Int >> Haste = Mastery > Crit is a good way to go.
The above is likely to change as we hit two key points: T15 4pc and the Sinister meta gem. I’m still working on the details, but there may be a mid-tier revamp once you acquire either or both.
If you want to help get the guide updated sooner, help out with the gearset configuration
