Maths of Pandaria: DPS Caster Haste Breakpoint Cards

Rating: 62 votes, 4.94 average.
In a follow up to my previous post on Healer Haste Breakpoint Cards I've been working on Caster versions. Whether you should gear for break points, or which break points to gear for should be based upon advice from class specific guides (or if you're an Elemental Shaman player, my advice is "Don't".)

While I've endevoured to get everything correct, there may be a few things I've missed. Some may be accidental, and if I have missed something accidentally, let me know so I can update it. However there are a few intentionally missed things. For Warlocks, Glyph of Dark Soul has intentionally been left off as according to the SimulationCraft guys it's a DPS loss, and if you're worried about haste break points then that sort of stuff matters. Also, I'm not going to be considering any perpetual refresh mechanics like Glyph of Everlasting Corruption, as they are very complicated to calculate in such a simple fashion.

Important!
Before you go any further, you should probably read this blog post, Re-visiting Haste Breakpoints which goes over the fact that the idea of DPS haste breakpoints is incorrect, and you shouldn't aim for any particular one.

Also, if you found these cards useful you may want to consider donating towards server costs (see the Donation applet at the top of the page)

Notes
  • Elemental Shaman do not have a card as there are no breakpoints to aim for.
  • Similarly, it probably isn't worth aiming for Destruction Warlock or non-Fire Mage haste breakpoints either
Changes
  • 11 March: Added Fire Mage cards, removed old 5.1 cards.
  • 04 March: Added Warlock 5.2 cards.
  • 01 March: Adding 5.2 cards with additional haste combinations for talents & the Sinister Primal Diamond meta gem. Added so far: Druid, Priest, new Mage Bomb cards (Fire only spells will be in their own cards)
  • 13 Sept: uploaded new clearer images with same colour formatting & style as healer cards

Affliction Warlocks may want to read a blog post looking at the actual impacts of breakpoints for Affliction

    I've finished filling out my long form spreadsheet for DPS specs, current to build 15913. I did include certain items which Bink chose to omit, but solely for the purpose of throughness and transparency of the calculations.

    There is no chart for elemental shaman (which you obviously know) and you mention not to gear for a haste break point. I believe i read somewhere that elemental shamans want to stay under the haste break point, rather than break it. If this is the case, then a haste break point chart would still be very useful so we know where a good stopping point is.

    Or does it simply just not matter at all, if we break the break point or not?

    You heard wrong then. There's never been any reason for Elemental to focus on haste break points, and with Flame Shock being weaker in Mists I don't expect that to change.

    Can we get some sort of definitions on what the table headers mean? Like on the Affliction Lock card the last 2 columns say "Raid" and "None". Does that indicate that no matter what the raid makeup is that as long as I am in a raid I have lower haste rating thresholds? I am assuming "None" is referring to not being in a raid, but again I am unsure.

    The "Raid" column is including the effect of the 5% haste buff from Balance/Elemental/Shadow, the "None" column does not.

    non-goblin mage image doesnt work. Not even from http://www.totemspot.com/images/hastebreakpointcards/ . The Google Docs link is broken as well.

    The image link does work, there's just some browser caching issues if you followed a link from elitist jerks like I did (where some fellow linked directly to the image). Just refresh the page.

    Channeled drains don't gain extra ticks from haste. Malefic Grasp, Drain Soul, and Harvest Life have a fixed number of ticks (4, 6, and 6, respectively), haste simply reduces their total duration (and the interval between ticks by the same factor).

    This also applies to Hellfire and Rain of Fire, neither gain ticks from haste, their duration and tick interval is simply reduced.

    Demo Lock have a dot called Doom. It is affected by haste and gain extra ticks ( I currently have a 5th tick when I aim for the 4717 corruption extra tick )

    Indeed, +1 and +2 breakpoints for Doom are at 3036 and 13153.

    Haste buffs
    0 = nothing
    5 = 5% aura
    30 = Hero/Sinister
    5+30 = 5% aura + hero/sinister
